Angela Evelyn Bassett is an American actress. Known for her work in film and television from the mid-80s onwards, she's been awarded numerous awards like two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was brought up in Winston-Salem North Carolina by her aunt after being born at New York New York, is well-known as an actor. As Bassett was about five the family relocated into St. Petersburg, Florida where they lived with their mother who was divorced from their father. Bassett was in high school when she was able to see James Earl Jones staring John Steinbeck play Of Mice and Men and was aware that her goal to become an actor been realized. Following her graduation from Yale University New Haven Connecticut in 1980 with the Bachelor's degree with a major in African American Studies, she was able to obtain a Master's Degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama.
